Creativity for All

Igniting the creative fire: My first two weeks with The Artist's Way

Hi everyone,

Two weeks into a creative journey with a group of artists have been an exciting experience. The group is following Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way, a book about self-reflection and rediscovering creativity. The group provides a push for self-exploration and journaling.

Weekly meetings include connection and reflection on the chapter. This community has been a powerful reminder that we are all connected to source in our own way.

The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse concert at the Greek Theater in Oakland

Creative inspiration was enhanced during an "artist's date"—a trip to see Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips. The crowd's energy and the bands’ lyrics were exactly what was needed. This experience was a powerful reminder of the art that moves people, and it provided a reminder that I can be weird and wild and authentic and still have clients. The show reminded me of my time in stagecraft and the crazy stuff we used to build. I want to bring some of that energy into my work, into my art and into my life.

When was the last time something was done just for fun? Did it spark new ideas or bring back a love for something?

It's not too late to join this supportive group and catch up, because the journey is only on week three. This free, welcoming space is for anyone who wants to rediscover their creative power. There are nine more weeks to go, and everyone is welcome to tap into their potential!
